Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd (GSFC) Q3FY25 Concall Summary - Dec-2024 Qtr
Performance Overview
- Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd (GSFC) reported strong revenue growth in Q3 FY25, with a 40% Y-o-Y increase. Profitability also saw improvement, with a 16% rise in PBT and a 13% rise in PAT Y-o-Y.
- Nine-month consolidated figures show a 6% Y-o-Y increase in revenue, a 1% decline in PBT, and a 4% decline in PAT. Standalone figures for nine months show a 3% increase in PBT and a 2% increase in PAT Y-o-Y.
- Fertilizer production increased by 23% Y-o-Y in Q3 and 18% Y-o-Y in nine months. Sales volume also saw growth, increasing by 25% Y-o-Y in Q3 and 5% in nine months.
- GSFC imported 1.27 lakh metric tons of DAP worth INR758 crores due to unfavourable DAP production economics. This import, however, did not contribute to margins.
- The company faced cost pressures from rising raw material prices (sulphur, sulphuric acid, and P205) and INR depreciation. P205 prices increased from $948/MT to $1,060/MT in Q3.
- Capro-benzene spread decreased, impacting profitability in that segment. GSFC mitigated these pressures by optimizing product mix and increasing capacity utilization.
- Lower natural gas prices offered some cost relief. Subsidy rates for P&K fertilizers were lower, but increased production and sales volume helped navigate this challenge.
- For Q4 FY25, GSFC anticipates booking sales of 3 lakh to 3.25 lakh metric tons, considering market dynamics and planned shutdowns of key fertilizer plants for maintenance and revamping.
- Industrial product demand is expected to remain stable, but cheap Chinese imports may affect pricing.
- GSFC maintains a debt-free status with strong liquidity, aided by timely government subsidy disbursements. Subsidies for imported P&K fertilizers were received up to December 2024, indigenous P&K up to the second week of January 2025, and urea up to the third week of January 2025.
- Sulphuric Acid V and Urea-II Revamping projects are expected to be operational by the end of FY25.
